The Trip – Better Late Than Never

Posted by Lynnster on February 18, 2007

I’ve been meaning to post about my trip up to Nashville and the Mothership for Sarcastro’s baby shower a few weeks ago for a while now, oops. This has been so very delayed but better late than never, I suppose. It was mucho fun and so great to meet everyone in person that I hadn’t yet met.

The day started off horribly, though, before I even left Memphis and Shelby County. I am habitually late anyway (for anyone who hasn’t figured that out yet) but I was actually running pretty close to on time that day, until I got out to I-40 and to my horror, traffic was not just slowed but stopped due to a wreck. There’s nothing worse than being stopped in traffic with no other option of getting off or taking another route around when you’ve got to be somewhere at a certain time. That doesn’t really happen in Memphis that often, at least not for long, so it’s doubly irritating when it does. I know people in places like Atlanta and D.C. and such deal with it every day and repeatedly. That would drive me crazy.

Anyway, once I finally extricated myself from the traffic mess and moseyed on my way to Nashville, I wound up hitting the Mothership about an hour later than originally planned, which irked me since that would have been an extra hour to spend talking with more folks, though I think I managed to at least say hello to almost everyone there and chat for a minute or two. I hope I didn’t miss anyone and I hope nobody thought I was being stuck up, it wasn’t intentional, there just wasn’t enough time and too many people to say hey to and meet, sigh. By the time I got there, Knuck was going to be closing up in an hour anyway so I squeezed in as much as I could!

Several I didn’t get to spend much time with this trip… unfortunately, right after I got there, the notorious ladies’ man JJ Dubin was needing a nap and not feeling well, so I only got to be wowed by his charms momentarily as his mom and I exchanged quick hellos and goodbyes on their way out the door. Jag was another one who was leaving soon after I arrived, and who is so cute and funny and I wish I was as tall as she is, but I was extra tickled because I also got to meet not only her but her absolutely GORGEOUS godchild. I was introduced to Michael but really only got to say hi and that was about it, I hope next time we run into each other to talk with him more. Malia was also a real joy to meet but had to depart soon after my late arrival.

Kerry Woo was also soon leaving after I got there but we did get to chat for a bit, and he is one of the most pleasant people on earth, I believe, and just smiles and smiles and it just makes you happy to be around him because he’s so pleasant and looks so happy. Nowadays I think of him and CLC as The Smiley Twins, really. Because they look so much alike, you know.

The being late thing cast the only shadow on the whole trip, as I was also disappointed about not getting to spend more time -but thrilled to meet and enjoyed what little we did get to chat – The Cobles, Aunt B., and Brittney. The Cobles are just the cutest couple and so nice, and Kat is so pretty. Brittney and I got to chat a little bit, but I was kicking myself later ‘cos I really meant to ask her how things were going with Cooper the dog’s issues and how her relative that had had to go in the hospital the day before was doing, so forgive me my rudeness in forgetting to ask about the latter especially. And B., I hope next time I come up maybe we can go out for dinner and beers with John and whoever else wants to go, you are just so interesting and fascinating I want to hear more!

Matter of fact, the Mothership was brimming with cute couples, including Slartibartfast and his bride Desdemona, and of course, Mr. & Mrs. Sarcastro. The Slartis are just as nice as you would expect, and the even more pleasant surprise – Mrs. Slarti is FUNNY, hugely funny. I really enjoyed meeting them and hanging out with them a bit, and while I only saw Trillian in passing, I did get to see a bit more of Zaphod because his mom made him apologize to another child at the gathering, and through it all I did my best not to fall out of my chair laughing and I think I did OK. Those moments as a parent when you’re trying so hard not to laugh because they’re in trouble, but it’s funny, I’m not sure I’d ever survive them. The Sarcastros are also both very pleasant and VERY funny and I’m now a HUGE fan of Mrs. Sarcastro, who is an adorable pregnant person (and not huge at all for being as far along as she is, even though she wouldn’t let anyone put up any pics ‘cos she thinks she’s too big right now, which she’s not). I personally would love to see Mrs. Sarcastro start her own blog in a kind of he said/she said vein, I think that’d be hilarious.

Mack was another major treat to finally meet and has adorable offspring, as was Knuck (I’m giving you 20 bucks for that Coke I drank, buddy), whose offspring was unfortunately not in attendance that day. Don’t believe any rumors you hear about me looking at Mack’s testicles because that’s just not true. I saw no testicles nor any other genitalia that day. I’m sure he has very nice ones but I was not looking at, nor for them. Though I will say that Mack has a very nice smile. :)

Another humongous treat for me, and I did get to spend a little more time with them than some others, was the notorious Bad Bad Ivy and her fellow Rutherford Countian, Kathy T., who is wonderful and I had a great time with sitting down to discuss my part of her Wrinkle series on her blog, even though I’m a lousy interview and I dunno how she stood it but glad she did. Ivy is, just as you would expect, a total hoot and a lot of fun, and luckily she didn’t kick my ass for almost immediately playing with her hair – everyone else got to play with it and pat it right after she got it shaved, so I wanted my turn too and it felt neat! Ivy also had Megs and Nate with her, and I just wanted to pick little Nate up and put him in my pocket and take him home with me.

I would eventually end up spending most of the rest of the evening with Sista Smiff and others, but Sista had to leave for a while to take the Drama Queen back home and get DQ and the rest of the kids settled for the evening. I was really glad to have had the opportunity to meet at least one of her brood – Sista claims DQ is really shy, but she was chatty and participating in a lot of the conversations and seemed to be having a lot of fun at the meetup and it was really nice to meet her as well as her mom.

Anyway, it was great fun at the Mothership that afternoon, I just wish I hadn’t been late and had had more time to spend with everybody. That was the only downside of the day for me, the realization that I just wasn’t gonna have as much time as I would have liked with everyone there.

Then there were those I did get to spend more time with. After Knuck booted us out of the Mothership, CLC, Kate, Ginger, and Hutchmo and I headed down the street for coffee, where Sista met back up with us later. Later, CLC’s sweetie RUABelle and Mrs. Hutchmo joined us as well. Of course, I’d already met Hutch before and he is always a blast to hang with, but with everybody else around it was like quadruple the fun! CLC is exactly as hilarious and fun to hang out with as I always figured he was, and RUABelle is like the perfect foil to his essence of CLC-ness, heh. Personally I think that CLC, Knuck, Hutchmo, Kerry Woo, and Sarcastro should have their own talk show, it would be like the funniest thing ever.

Mrs. Hutchmo is just the nicest person and like Newscoma has said, she has such a soothing voice and charming way about her, you could just about curl up and listen to her read the phone book and it’d be so soothing and relaxing. Ginger is bouncy and fun and a blast to hang out with, she totally rocks (I forgot to mention having gotten to meet her daughter too, and she’s a really neat kid and so pretty). Kate is just about the nicest and sweetest person in the world, very funny, and you just feel like she’s known you forever, as friendly as she is. And Sista, well, she’s my long-lost Sista, all right. If we’d grown up in the same town, she’d be one of those people I’d be telling old stories on today like I sometimes do Kelli and others, because she’s so much like most of my gal pals from back home it’s almost scary! She’d have you believe she’s a boring housewife who never does anything and has a boring life, but between all the zillions of interesting anecdotes she has in her memory banks about various and sundry folks in the entertainment industry, and the fact that she is hilarious and cracks me UP – nuh uh, not boring in the least. She is a LOT of fun and we had a blast, and just one of those things where you wonder why you’re just now meeting this person ‘cos it seems like you’ve been friends forever.

The coffee shop folks were kind enough not to kick us out even tho we hung around an hour past closing time (oops) and Hutchmo had to run off for the Vandy game and Kate needed to depart, so the rest that were left went for dinner – Italian – and stuffed ourselves silly, and added another party to our party while there, the vivacious and oh-so-funny Lesley, as in Vivalalesley. I was extra psyched to meet Lesley in person since we have so much in common with her kinfolks being from my hometown and her also being related to one of my best friends from school days, and everyone else was just thrilled to meet her too, and repeatedly said as much in the days following our big bash. Lesley is awesome.

We went from there to another joint for a few beers and some music that was entirely too loud (we are all ancient I guess!) and Hutch showed back up while there, effectively putting a damper on CLC’s mad pimpin’ skillz since he’d been the only guy with a table full of chicks for three or four hours at that point.

All our old ancient ears were about to bleed after a while, so we split and left that territory to the young’ns, CLC and the missus and Mrs. Hutchmo departed us there, and what was left of our party headed down the street to Portland Brew for even more coffee. There was so much geeky blogger talk going on at our table, I felt kinda bad for this guy who was sitting behind us with his laptop. He probably overheard enough information to figure out who all of us were and found our blogs while we were talking and thought, “God, what a bunch of GEEKS.” We had a blast though, so I don’t care that much about whether we disturbed him or he thought we were great big nerds or not.

Around 11-ish what was left of us, as Sista & Ginger had already headed home, broke up and I headed back westward. Tired, but it was a good day and a great evening.

Now, I do have to share with you one particularly cool thing that happened that day, and that was when CLC presented me with a little token of appreciation for having fixed up The New & Improved Dry Spot. He hands me this big gift bag while we were still at the Mothership, and I glanced in it and thanked him profusely – it was a totally unnecessary thing to have done, giving me that gift, but I certainly appreciated it and was very touched by the gesture (as I was as well with my bee-yoo-ti-ful flowers from Sista a few weeks ago – so now you know! – and my lifetime of Mothership BBQ from Hutchmo – that was a lifetime of BBQ, right? Hee. And all of these nice wonderful gestures are totally unnecessary but thank you all anyhow).

It wasn’t until a little later when I REALLY looked in the bag (because, of course, still at the Mothership, I was trying to make time to talk to as many people as possible in the short time there was left) that that little token of appreciation became even MORE cool. I had noticed the orange soda and Coke as well as noting there was candy in there, and some tea, but didn’t really pay attention to what candy was in there. It was all my VERY FAVE stuff!! Jolly Ranchers, Sweet Tarts, Ice Breakers Sours… all that hard sour-y candy I am so obsessed with and frequently obsess about on my blog. Oh, it was just perfect. (And as an extra added bonus, the little decoration hanging on the bag is now operating as my keychain.)

I’m not sure that even my own boyfriend or my Mom could have done as excellent a job picking out that stuff for me as he did, so I was just really pleased and tickled pink at the gesture. That’s also kind of a neat statement on the blogging world and community as a whole – in some respects, your blogging pals get to know you and what you’re about better than your other friends or family sometimes, I think. That was certainly true here so thank you again, buddy. You are a peach. I bet RUABelle gets like the most perfect presents ever all the time. Some guys aren’t good at picking out gifts, but CLC is obviously not one of those. Good man, that Smiley.

I ended up eating the chewy Sweet Tarts for breakfast the next morning while working (ha!), have about decimated the Ice Breakers Sours (you have to be careful with those, eat too many at one sitting and your mouth goes numb), and am still working on the bag of Jolly Ranchers. Yum.

Anyway, all in all, it was a terrific and fun trip even though it started out on the wrong foot and I was so glad I went, I wish I hadn’t had to miss the next weekend being sick but oh well. There were several bloggers that weren’t in attendance that I’m still dying to meet, but maybe next time or the time after that, I hope.

And the one other, only other, downside – that I forgot to eat any BBQ or any of the legendary Mothership crack ‘n cheese I’ve heard so much about, which is why I’m going to get up there again as soon as I can and remedy that omission. If it’s all as good as everyone says it is, I might have to start joining Hutch on his every Saturday BBQ tradition. Hell, if it’s that good, I might just have to move back to Middle Tennessee!

In the Month of June

Posted by Lynnster on June 2, 1997

(NOTE: June 1997 entries have been moved from an old site of mine in one big chunk for the sake of convenience… sorry & thanks – L.)

06/02/97: I have, like, no spare time right now but suffice it to say all is well. S.H., you don’t need e-mail from me, you can read the Graffiti Wall, heh heh. Congratulations and celebrations to JJ, Kev, G-man and Jay W. on some jobs well done the last several weeks, you guys have been a lot of fun and I thank you for letting me be a part of it … AW is for the most part on hiatus until after summer, and we all thank everyone heartily for the support and good words, it’s been a pleasure. Special thanks to the mighty dudes at the Musitron and also at Strings ‘N Things for various and sundry good deeds. This last weekend was the best ever and the second all-KISS deal was a righteous amount of fun. In other news, the Gripers are planning yet another Gripefest, this time a pilgrimage down to Mud Island for Summer Daze ’97, 06/20/97, featuring a virtual myriad (heh, Heathers reference) of ’70s guitar nostalgia whatchamahooey, featuring Foghat, Blue Oyster Cult, Pat Travers and Steppenwolf. Come join us and see a bunch of 30 and 40 years olds (well, except for Drew and Julie) act like a bunch of plastered teenagers and Ed & Greg invariably yelling “Hey (insert name here), you suck!” At $10.03 a ticket, you can’t even buy a pizza for that (not Ed & Greg yelling, the concert). For other news, please click your pointer at the May 1997 Graffiti Wall. I am just swamped. Hugs to all…

06/06/97: Sad day in Memphis here upon the news of musician Jeff Buckley’s death becoming a certainty after a weeklong search in the Memphis Harbor and the river. Though there was some speculation at first that he’d up and disappeared, I pretty much suspected the outcome, as the mighty Mississippi is not a particularly nice and easygoing river. Jeff came to Memphis in February from New York and had been living here in Midtown. I had not had the opportunity to make his acquaintance, but many folks I know did, and my sympathies are with all of you who had the good fortune to know him – I understand from friends he was a super good guy. (More details appear on my Memphis page as well as a link to one of the Buckley sites on the ‘net.) Condolences also to Memphis musician John Kilzer, a favorite of mine, on the recent loss of his mother. Seems like a couple of weeks’ worth of bad news on the rise. The good news is that I’m kicking butt on The ’80s Server this week and I just plain rock. I also hereby defer to John “Cochise” Cosper that, indeed, Sam Cooper Blvd. (AKA I-40) to Summer to White Station is quicker than Walnut Grove to White Station. Bite me. KC says he has pages ready to be updated so everyone wait with bated breath, I’m not holding mine. My laryngitis is gone and I know everyone’s just jumping up & down for joy about that. Otherwise, happy weekend, all – well, most, not all – I’m ready for it, dead tired. And in the words of Lloyd Dobler, “If you start out depressed, everything’s kind of a pleasant surprise.” Ciao…

06/09/97: Well, let’s see. #1, KC lies so don’t listen to him. The only real truth to that is that it was an amazing weekend, as was this past one. (Oh, I suppose some of those things actually happened, but not precisely as Mr. Exaggerator tells it.) A big highlight apart from working was the long-awaited much-planned Mini-Trip to Clarksdale (no, that’s not Clarksville and there’s no last train, Bill Ruef). ‘Twas only a mini-trip because we didn’t have time to do and investigate all we’d planned, but a lovely day trip in any case. Having the blues feels great, heh! (And them’s Delta blues, baby.) Thanks (this really kills me to say this) KC for springing for me as I am flat busted broke (not only do I have the blues, I am the Epitome of Delta Blues, baby. Check that $100 word there out, Bill P.) Anyways, ’twas a stellar (that word’s worth at least $50, B.P.) weekend started off by the wonderful news that an old good friend in longtime need of a liver transplant finally not only got on the list but got one on Friday, thereby proving to me that Fate and Luck are not necessarily the crock of dog poop I often proclaim them to be. Then having two great probable-last-time-’til-fall AW gigs going on, and the weekend was capped off with a rowdy bacchanal (another $100 word there, B.P.) at The Place Whose Name We Shall Never Speak Again downtown where we all spoke to each other in British accents and toasted Friendships That Shall Not Be Dissed and drew up and signed FTSNBD Vows in blood…well, not blood, red Flair pen, but that’s beside the point. The way this last year or so’s gone for most people and then “Someone” (you know who you are and we know you read my website) winding up on everyone’s Bad List (but especially Josie’s), it just seemed fitting in our rather gleeful, English-speaking state that we create these Sacred Vows, first and foremost of which is Thou Shalt Not Incredibly Dis a Friend…now, what “incredibly” actually involves is up to the judgment of, well, us. Second and equally important, as well as being my favorite, is: If Thou Incredibly Dis a Friend Over a Member of the Opposite Sex, Thou Shalt Waive All Rights and Hereby Give All Friends Permission to Shoot Thou. (This was KC’s idea, by the way, not mine, surprising, I know.) Works for me…if I ever Incredibly Dis a friend over such, I hope you all shoot me. Billions of times. Anyway, the nice thing about these Sacred Vows is even if you’re all or one of our buddies and you weren’t there, we signed in fake blood by proxy for you, so you’re covered. (Former friends need not apply…that’s the point. Duh.) These vows were signed by the usual cast of characters…moi, KC, Jay W., G-man, JJ, Kev, Kev’s new girlfriend (um…no, I bite my tongue here), CarolJoJosie, and some guy I’ve never seen before named Damon or Demon or something but we let him sign anyway. More the merrier, can’t have too many friends, watch out what bridges you burn, all that hooey. So anyway, the Sacred Vows are now written in fake blood and “Someone” (by the way you owe Josie a few hundred $, “Someone”) and all other “Someones” past best just hope we didn’t put the mojo whammy on you while we were all bopping around down in the vicinity of the Crossroads this weekend, heh. By the way, I want everyone to know that JJ’s one true brush with greatness is that he once hung out with Sweet, Sweet Connie of Little Rock (she of Grand Funk’s “We’re An American Band”). Matter of fact, last time I looked at Rock103′s website they had a recent pic of SSC up there. Not that that has anything to do with anything. Anyhow, in more news, many congratulations go out to my cousin-by-marriage who may as well be a cousin-by-birth as far as I’m concerned, Blair, and her fiance, Noel, who will be wed in a smashing affair here in Memphis this coming weekend (hopefully with lots of single, available men in tuxes and nice suits). I’d say welcome to the family to Noel if he hadn’t already been a part of it anyway for so long, but welcome anyhow. And finally, my new fence is finally up (thanks, Art) and Dobie and Baby and I are very happy about it. And my flowers are blooming and I’m simply ecstatic about that as well. Scotty H., I hope you do truly get a kick out of all this, you know I only really write it for you, love (and I think you’re about the only one who reads it besides KC anyway, heh). Catch y’all on the flip side of next week, I gotta traumatically busy week ahead. And no, Mom, I’m not on drugs. Luv, L.

06/11/97: Happy Birthday to my Dad!! The only man I’ve ever really loved. (smirk) Love you, L.

06/13/97: I saw that, KC. Next time you ride tied to the top of the Neon like a dead deer.

06/16/97: Well, this will likely lose something in translation, but I just had to tell everyone about my new One Sick Puppy t-shirt Art gave me, it’s the coolest. It has a cartoon of a dog and his owner-guy with a rolled-up newspaper, and the dog’s going, “Spank me hard! I deserve it! Oh yes!!! THE ROLLED UP PAPER!! Yes, yes, yes!! Spank me like never before!” And at the bottom it has the One Sick Puppy logo on it. What a great shirt, I love it. OK, on to more personal matters. Congratulations to Noel & Blair who were wed in a lovely ceremony Saturday night and the band rocked and all was just neat. Dear JJ & Greg – I know you miss me, how many other women give a damn about your guitar solos or what equipment you used on what and yada yada yada, hehe. Miss y’all too. I hate Sundays ‘cos I dread all day going back to work on Monday. Another weekend shot to heck, back to the ol’ salt mines…

06/21/97: After one of the truly suckier weeks in Lynnster history, the week redeemed itself with a finish Friday night at the Summer Daze show at Mud Island. For $10.03 and $4 for these GIANT cups of beer, I more than got my money’s worth (especially since Greg wouldn’t let me pay for my ticket – thanks darlin’ *smooch*)! Now, first of all, it’s been a long time since I’ve been to a show at the Island, and I’d really forgotten how great it is…Mud Island is the penultimate place to catch a concert in the summertime. Ya ride the monorail (as seen in the flick The Firm with Tom Cruise, natch) or walk the bridge across the river, then ya walk around the park treated to the awesome view of the Memphis sunset facing Arkansas, then ya find your seat in the ampitheater and, while treated to whatever fineries are onstage, you get the added plus of a fantastic view of the entire Memphis skyline and Riverside Drive and the bluffs all night, kinda an awesome sight both in the daylight and at night. So I was like, happy enough on that, the weather’d been hot all day but was just perfect last night with the river breezes to boot. We managed to miss most of Pat Travers’ set but did catch the final tune, and then (I really must commend the folks that put this show on for the quick changes between sets) out comes Foghat, which I would have been happy to listen to all night. Because there were four bands playing, each act only did about 4 or 5 songs each, and the Foghat set included “Drivin’ Wheel”, “I Just Want to Make Love to You”, “Fool for the City” and “Slow Ride”, and I think that was it, but man, that would have been worth the $10.03 by itself. The set was awesome and I sat totally in jaw-dropped awe of Rod Price’s guitar extraordinaire. That done, the rest of the show (Blue Oyster Cult and Steppenwolf) was good but I’d seen who I really came to see and proceeded to imbibe many more of those huge $4 beers and really could have cared less who was on stage after that, tho, again, the rest of it was good, heavy on the Steppenwolf, who closed the show. The Gripe Gang headed to The North End in the Pinch District for a snack afterwards (I think I won the Most $4 Beers Award last night). My head has finally stopped pounding with every step I take today, the day after. If you have the opportunity to catch the Summer Daze show on the road, do go. The Foghat set alone is well worth it, tho I must admit the ambience of being out in the middle of the river in summer did it for me, I am reminded once again of why I love Memphis, this city ROCKS. Planning to recuperate the rest of the weekend and watch my just-gotten, three video set of Hoodoo Gurus shows, interviews and such (thank you oh thank you Mike Watters, you are a god among men). Everyone have a swell weekend…

06/22/97: Well, KC says a hangover never killed anyone, but I’m not so sure about that. My apologies to anyone I ignored on Saturday, the computer and phone were on but, tho literally, figuratively no one was home and I wanted to die most of the day. I did, however, spend a good bit of the evening with over four hours’ worth of live shows, TV appearances and interviews from 15 years’ worth of my beloved Hoodoo Gurus. Watching Brad and Dave’s hairdo changes over the years as well as Brad’s choices of various guitars each tour was loads of fun (KC, 100 Lynnster points if you can guess what guitar Brad mostly used on the Crank tour, heh heh). Probably the greatest thing about this video set is I now have a live Gurus show off the Crank tour, which was the last I saw and I guess now will ever see. (Anyone who wants to send me to Australia in the winter is still welcome to do so.) Anyway, thanks again to Mike Watters for making this video set available, and thanks as always to the Gurus camp for always being so terrific to us Poison Pen List folk … thanks to y’all we get to enjoy some stuff other bands and artist’s fans could only dream of, there’s a good reason why the Gurus are #1 to us. In other news, those of y’all who come here once in a while have got to see my new fence! Not only do I have a new backyard fence, but Art built me a new side fence last week and it’s great! Every time I walk out my back door I feel like I live somewhere cool, hehe. I’m so happy about it I could just spit. Now here’s hoping before the weekend’s over maybe I’ll feel human again.

06/25/97: I did survive… I know how sorry some folks may be to hear it, but I am alive and well after the weekend’s misdeeds. We are now smack in the middle of my least favorite time of year in Memphis, and what’s worse, it’s not even August yet! 92 degrees on Beale Street at 6:00 p.m. yesterday and I’m over this heat already. Hurry up, October! This is also my least favorite time of year here because, no matter what color your vehicle is, it might as well be yellow, because no matter if you wash it every day, it’s going to have yellow pollen all over it. Blah. Baby killed a bird in the back yard today and is in bigga trouble. Other than that, no news worth repeating (or okay to repeat by TOS standards, anyway). Personal notes… Dear Andy – you better e-mail me you Vegas-bound slug. Dear KC – like I care or ever have. Kiss my…

06/27/97: Well, just when I thought nothing could possibly get worse than the last year’s been, there’s always something around the corner to surprise me. This site may well move sometime in the near future so just remember that for future reference. Ummm anyway. Happy Birthday to longtime pal Julie Cox today! And Amy K. & I rule the Manic Medley on The 80s Server this week, we are goddesses and don’t none of y’all forget that. Good weekend to all & I’ll answer all e-mail as soon as I can…

In a Haunted House

Posted by Lynnster on February 12, 1997

Dear KC & Jay W. – I am soooo glad you two amuse yourselves so much (RE my guestbook). I hope you both catch the bubonic plague. Luv, LB…

Dear Cochise Cosper – I suspect every Gurus fan on the planet will beat you to death in email over that nasty Gurus comment in my guestbook and deservedly so. And you know good and well that other comment did not occur in a closet. Otherwise, thanks for the kind words. Hope the whole lot of you Gripers get struck by lightning for lying about me (re the closet). It was the hallway and y’all know it. Luv, HRMHG

Dear Andy/Eric/Captain/whoever you are today – Did you get a lobotomy since the last time I saw you? If you keep being so semi-nice I will have to remove all my “Evil Brother Andy” comments. Hope you’re having fun in Albany and hurry up and come home to visit. I think me & you & Byrns are overdue for a batch of pink lemonade and vodka at the Waverly Drive-In. I wonder if they still show the concession stand cartoons. Hugz, L.

Everybody else who’s signed the guestbook (but not KC or Jay W.) – y’all are all too cool and way sweet. Thanx.

Speaking of Andy, that reminds me of a story. One time, about 12 years ago, Andy & Kelli made me go to this haunted house (a real house) in downtown Jackson (TN) with them. I was pretty toasted at the time. We looked at a lot of weird and scary stuff and then the cops came and made us all stand up and put our hands in the air. Then I pointed at Kelli and told the cops, “Talk to her, she’s the one, it was her idea!” I guess you kinda had to be there. Luckily, no, we did not get arrested for breaking and entering.
